CORD Communication Textbooks for Contextual Learning

Select-O-Sep, LLC is the CORD Communications Representative in the states of Michigan and Ohio for their contextual  learning texts for both Mathematics and Science from the 6th - 12th grades, post-secondary education and Tech Prep.  Below is a just a partial list of what CORD Communications has to offer in the way of teaching/learning tools.  Follow the link at the right for a complete list and information.

 Algebra 1 (Interest Level 8-11)

High school graduation requirements are becoming more and more challenging for today’s students. The real challenge for schools is reaching those students who need to see the “real world” relevance of the math before they can learn it and be successful. Now into a brand new third edition, CORD’s Algebra 1 : Learning In Context, Third Edition, remains the primary tool for the contextual teaching approach. By combining new rigorous math content and a hands-on approach through real-world applications, you reach more students and more students succeed.

Algebra 2 (Interest Level 10 - 12)

As more and more states raise their graduation standards, there are an increasing number of students who find themselves faced with the task of completing Algebra 2. By developing CORD Algebra 2: Learning in Context, CORD has expanded its ground-breaking series of contextual-based math textbooks. More importantly, teachers are provided a tool to help the student who would traditionally struggle with math succeed and reach their full potential. By combining real-world applications and lab activities with the mathematics being taught, students receive a more meaningful education and are better prepared for state testing…and life.

Geometry (Interest Level 9 - 12)

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. But how do you reach students who don’t see the point of mathematics? The new CORD Geometry: Learning In Context, Third Edition continues the proven method of using real-world applications to bring math to life for students. New hands-on applications, including workplace exercises, and lab activities help concrete learners build a strong foundation for success. The math content is rigorous, yet developed in a way that all students can learn and succeed, regardless of learning style.

Bridges (Interest Level 7 - 10)

Bridges to Algebra and Geometry, Second Edition lays the necessary foundation for success in high school mathematics. State tests are changing to include critical thinking skills. CORD’s contextual approach to teaching is proven to work with students who traditionally struggle with math, but must pass these new state tests. It is full of lab activities, real-world applications, workplace exercises, and skill/practice problems, proving that all students can learn rigorous math content and succeed.

Physics in Context (Interest Level 9 - 12)

This one-year physics course is an ideal option to increase student performance through contextual learning. Its’ goal is to break the “physics barrier” by helping both the middle majority and top 25% of students learn  physics. Students explore how physics applies to real-life situations while developing the problem-solving skills that are necessary in today’s workforce
